Melissa Candrasaputra

Hello, my name is Melissa (you can call me Mel C.) and I am a children’s book author-illustrator based in sunny (and rainy) Singapore.

I started exploring art as a serious hobby in 2010 with painting in acrylic and watercolour, drawing on inspiration from nature and children’s literature. I started collecting children’s picture books years before I had my first child!

I have since then accumulated self-directed learning experience online and offline, taking some reputable online courses from Make Art That Sells (by Lilla Rogers) and School of Visual Storytelling while taking on freelance illustration and participating in exhibitions.

Now, I am a mom and a full-time freelance illustrator. I have worked on illustration for educational app, learning cards and am currently working on a series of bilingual English-Malay picture books.
